Prior to teaching I have worked in life science Reasearch and Development and in Biopharamceutical research, sales and marketing. I also worked a part-time voluntary teaching assistant in primary and seconday schools for 2 years. In 2014 I decided to change career completely to become a science teacher, so I trained at Kings College, graduating with my PGCE in 2015.
My background prior to teaching brings additional experience and skills to my teaching. Chemistry is my specialist subject. I have taught and tutored all sciences successfully to years 7 to 11, and have taught and tutored Chemistry and Biology at A level.

I am fairly traditional in my approach. My previous pupils - I am recently retired - would describe me as thorough, encouraging and able to develop a strong self belief to succeed in a tricky subject.
Teaching Chemistry for 41 years has given me significant insight into the common conceptual pitfalls that hinder learning. So, first and foremost, I aim to develop a sound conceptual understanding and thereby foster tutees' confidence. Grasping Chemistry is like tackling a jig-saw puzzle: The pattern emerges when the links between the individual parts are apparent; I pride myself in enabling tutees to make these connections. Once the subject foundations are secure we move on to questions, examination technique and past papers.

With four years of dedicated tutoring experience, I specialize in providing comprehensive support to students ranging from Grade 5 to A levels in the subjects of mathematics, physics, and chemistry. My commitment to fostering academic excellence is reflected in the outstanding results achieved by my students, two of whom have consistently secured top positions in their mathematics classes.
As a passionate educator, I continuously explore innovative teaching methods that establish a meaningful connection between the subject matter and each student's unique learning style. My approach goes beyond traditional instruction, aiming to make complex concepts relatable and accessible. By incorporating real-world examples and practical applications, I strive to ignite and nurture a genuine interest in mathematics and the sciences.
Effective communication is at the core of my teaching philosophy. I maintain an open line of dialogue with both students and their parents, ensuring transparency and collaboration in the learning process. The positive reviews and testimonials from parents attest to my ability to engage students, enhance their understanding, and contribute to their academic success.
Join me on a journey where education is not just about grades; it's about inspiring a love for learning and empowering students to reach their full potential. Your child's academic success starts here.

Fully qualified teacher with 40 years teaching experience
We have a dedicated covid secure classroom. We have an extremely comprehensive equipment store to cover all the experiments for GCSE and A level Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics). This enables the students to take part in experiments which enhances their learning.
Since the lockdown, our response was to transition, virtually overnight, our teaching online. The tutor’s hands became the student’s hands and the cameras their eyes, the microphone and speakers became their voice and ears. With the power of a broadcast switcher, the student did not have one view but many, depending on what was needed. In addition, we decided to live stream tutorials on YouTube going through GCSE and A level Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, topic by topic, week by week utilising all our equipment for experiments. This was to develop a resource for all not just our own students.

Hello, I'm Rosana, I am a doctor in organic chemistry, passionate about chemistry. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher in UCD, Ireland and as a secondary job I offer basic chemistry, organic and advance chemistry (synthetic, medicinal, NMR, etc) and spanish ( I am native) classes at all levels. My methodology depends on each student, which I will evaluate in each class. In the first part of the classes I teach theory so that you can understand in depth the topics you want or need to learn and then you practice. We will solve problems together but I will also give you extra activity so that you improve and learn in each class. I provide classes in English and Spanish. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Hi, my name is Vicky and I'm an ex-head of science at a secondary school in London. I have also been a tutor for the last 4 years. I've been teaching for just over 6 years with experience on multiple exam boards and teaching all specialisms of science. I am currently teaching myself how to code and looking for a career change, however, I am still tutoring as I love how rewarding it is!
I gained my PGCE in 2017 and started my role as a science teacher in July 2017. I have taught all three sciences for both AQA and Edexcel, and chemistry up to A-Level. I have also worked as an examiner for both AQA and Edexcel, giving me priceless experience and insight into getting marks in exams! During my time as a teacher I received multiple nominations for 'changing lives as a teacher' awards within my trust - once as a trainee, once as a teacher and once for working cross-collaboratively across multiple schools.
In your first lesson it's important that we get to know each other well so I can understand your goals and where you are currently at and so you can figure out if I am a teacher you'd like to learn from! We'll do an overview of some of the foundational topics in your chosen science (or all three if you'd like) during which I can assess your current level and you can get to see my teaching style. I am happy to set out a curriculum for your tutoring sessions or go with the flow each week where you let me know what topic you'd like to cover.
Review from a parent not on TutorExtra (contact details available upon request):
'Vicky has tutored both my kids. She is patient, and extremely organised. She prepares well for each session and really adapts her tutoring to the exam board that the school is doing. This is really important to us. We didn't just want a science graduate who didn't know all the exam board quirks. Having used many tutors over the years, my eldest has said she is the most useful tutor she has ever had. Vicky is also extremely kind. The proof has been in the pudding - chemistry mock at a level 3 moved to a 7 in the GCSE! She is now tutoring our second child over Zoom and that is also working very well. Name and contact details withheld but available privately via Vicky.'
