General Science Tutor, Teacher, Instructor
As a passionate licensed teacher, my primary goal is to motivate and guide students to achieve excellence and exceed their own personal limits using diverse up-to-date pedagogical strategies.
I am currently a PhD student in Education at the University of Bath, Bath Somerset.
I worked as an ESL and SEN Teacher for the past 5 years in Japan teaching both online and in-person, after concluding a post-graduate educational research program at Naruto University of Education, Japan. I also have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education degree (National Teachers' Institute, Nigeria) and a www.*** in Botany (Second Class Upper Honors) from Nnamdi Azikiwe University , Awka, Nigeria.
Prior to that, I had taught for five years at The Centagon International School (TCIS), Abuja and for two years at Rainbow International College, Surulere, Lagos.
In addition to striving to instill a love of learning and making learning exciting and interesting, I utilize activities according to curriculum requirements, and expand on previous knowledge while encouraging students to explore new and interesting possibilities. I also spur students to construct their own learning in an environment that stimulates and helps them realize their full potential.
Having taught in international multicultural schools, I have had some excellent results with a wide range of learners who had had a history/background of 'not-so-good' performance in Math, English and Sciences. A good number of my students who had challenges in core aspects now hit on-levels and above-levels with ease, confidence, and delight.
With lots of experience preparing children for 7+,11+ and 13+ exams, I intend to combine my wealth of teaching experience with my ability as a compassionate, enthusiastic, innovative teacher in order to help your child achieve and exceed their goals.
I look forward to the opportunity of meeting with you!

I went into teaching as it has always been my passion to try to make a difference in children's lives.
After careful consideration I decided to leave mainstream education and set up my own learning centre using kinaesthetic activities with play therapy.
The centre also offers meditation in order to promote wellbeing in body, mind and spirit.
I believe children are all individual and no two children are the same.
My motto is "when a flower doesn't bloom you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower"

I am an experienced classroom teacher with over 20 years experience. I currently work in a small comprehensive school in Oxfordshire. I have been in this role for the past 6 years. Previous to this I worked in another comprehensive school in Oxfordshire where I was responsible for classroom teaching and as a pastoral leader as well.
I have experience in providing private tuition for students of KS3,4 and 5. I specialise in general science at KS3 and 4, Chemistry for KS4 triple science and A level chemistry. I have been tutoring in this way for over 7 years and I really enjoy it, particularly seeing an individual gain confidence in the subject and experience in passing exams. I am adaptable and can tailor lessons to an individual student's requirements.
I am also a GCSE examiner for AQA. My students have found my experience in this area useful when applying their knowledge to comprehending and learning how to answer exam questions.

I am fairly traditional in my approach. My previous pupils - I am recently retired - would describe me as thorough, encouraging and able to develop a strong self belief to succeed in a tricky subject.
Teaching Chemistry for 41 years has given me significant insight into the common conceptual pitfalls that hinder learning. So, first and foremost, I aim to develop a sound conceptual understanding and thereby foster tutees' confidence. Grasping Chemistry is like tackling a jig-saw puzzle: The pattern emerges when the links between the individual parts are apparent; I pride myself in enabling tutees to make these connections. Once the subject foundations are secure we move on to questions, examination technique and past papers.
