Hi. My name is Sean O. and I am a fully qualified maths tutor and teacher with a master’s degree in mathematics and a PGCE from the University of Nottingham. I am a graduate from university of nottingham in computer science. I have had experience working in primary schools for almost two years now, working with children with SEND and SEMH difficulties as well as other children to help them achieve their full academic potential. I have delivered 1:1 and small group based interventions in age ranges from 4 years old in their early years all the way up to 11 in the run up to SATs. I have spent a lot of time working with children who had the academic level of several years below their age group however after sometime of 1:1 intervention they have thrived and caught up with their peers. Not only have I worked with children for their academics but I have also worked with children to help give them the opportunity to learn self regulation and mental health support. This has come from a wide range of support programmes such as zones of regulation and social detective. I pride myself on how fun and engaging I like to make my time with children and with how much of a difference emotion coaching can make to their lives. In the run up to SATS I worked in delivering intervention based lessons to our cusp students to help them go on to achieve greater depth in their SATs but also to help children who believed they couldn’t do their SATs.

I am a third-year student at the University of Nottingham, studying for a Master degree in theoretical physics. I moved to the Uk from Italy to study at University. I've completed my diploma with 100/hon in sciences and I've been a tutor for younger students and peers throughout my studies. I'm very competent in the fields of physics, mathematics, applied mathematics, informatics, and data science. In the past, I also taught philosophy and literature. My knowledge in these fields comes from my studies as well as my passion for the subjects. I have a strong passion for teaching and I plan on pursuing a career in this field after getting my Master. I had the opportunity to experience various methods of teaching and learning and I strongly believe that a good teacher needs to shape a lesson based on the specific student's needs to get the best learning outcome. I also believe that studying is a fun and enjoyable activity and I wish to deliver the passion that drives me to a deeper understanding of what I'm studying to other people as well, to get them to be passionate and enjoy learning.
I would love to help other children going through GCSE's and SAT's and to boost their confidence. I hope to make children realise that with the right mindset, one that they realise if they work hard, they can do it and achieve good results. As someone who has just finished their GCSE's, the subjects are very much fresh in my mind. I would love to use any tips and tricks in which I have been taught that may differ to any others they have been given and to help them understand more.
I graduated with a first-class degree in Biotechnology. I'm an adaptable, flexible, and resilient team player with a solid research background, extra laboratory experiences in a fast-paced environment with multidisciplinary team projects. I take lead and initiative, bring full commitment and enthusiasm to tasks and meeting objectives.
I do lessons online (skype, zoom and messenger) and face to face lesson only at my home if students live up to 20 miles. Biology, chemistry, physics and maths are my favourite subjects that I have been teaching and tutoring since 1990. Also I am a part time lecturer and researcher for genetics at the university since 2009 till present time. I am very eager to tutor as teaching is a great job. Maths is my tool to teach and use in the three sciences as it will help students succeed more. I teach first few 15 minutes or twenty minutes explaining the ideas then the rest of the hour I work with the students on practicing how to answer different type of questions regarding the ideas we have went over. It is not an hour or two to write only notes but to work with the students to be practical using the ideas in questions, how to apply them and why to learn about them. lesson should be interesting to attract students to love to learn and enjoy studying with me as well to leave the tutoring hour feeling there was a gain of knowledge, practice techniques to answer the questions and no need to go home and revise again and mostly to gain confidence. Аll this to be done from September not two weeks to exams.
