About our owner and founder
I am a committed, enthusiastic and friendly tutor/mentor with 30 years of teaching experience and up to date knowledge of teaching methods. Since graduating from the University or Reading in 1992, I have taught in a variety of Norfolk schools - both primary and secondary (including an American school here in the U. K.). I have a proven track record of improving pupil achievement in maths and am able to offer tailor-made tuition to meet individual pupil needs - whether the student is struggling to keep up at school, developing confidence or preparing for exams.
Home Educated children I am happy to work with home educators and their children. As home educating families often have very individual requirements, please get in contact if you would like to discuss options for daytime sessions. I also offer discounts for home educated students taking lessons during school hours (9am-3pm) on weekdays in term-time. Please contact me for details.
Due to the popularity of services, I now operate Discovery Tutors in order to be able to meet the demands of existing and future clients. All of the tutors have been personally vetted by me, have enhanced DBS checks and undergo child protection training.

I am a final year student of Masters Degree in Chemistry at the University of East Anglia.
I am about to move onto doing my Post-Graduate Research Project for 3 years in using metals to understand more about DNAs different structures, which has applications in medical diagnosis and drug improvement for things like cancer.
I love chemistry and science because it's the reason why we have such amazing medical treatment, developments in the understanding of the planet and the universe around us, improving every day life for normal people, and the endless opportunities open to us! It is also a lot of fun to do experiments in the laboratory!
I can show you how, even though science may seem hard, it can be fun and much easier to understand if you use different techniques and methods to learning. I will show you how to use different techniques for exam papers, exam stress and anxiety, revision, scheduling, time management, and mainly how to enjoy your learning!

Prior to teaching I have worked in life science Reasearch and Development and in Biopharamceutical research, sales and marketing. I also worked a part-time voluntary teaching assistant in primary and seconday schools for 2 years. In 2014 I decided to change career completely to become a science teacher, so I trained at Kings College, graduating with my PGCE in 2015.
My background prior to teaching brings additional experience and skills to my teaching. Chemistry is my specialist subject. I have taught and tutored all sciences successfully to years 7 to 11, and have taught and tutored Chemistry and Biology at A level.

Hi, I’m Naeema, currently pursuing my undergraduate degree in Law, but enjoy teaching GCSE, AS, A-LEVEL Biology & GCSE Chemistry to students in my free time.
Having dedicated over a year to offline tutoring, I’m excited to expand my reach and offer my expertise to even more students online. I firmly believe that academia should be empowering and elevate confidence for every student.
Having navigated through the challenges of GCSE & A-LEVEL exams myself, I known firsthand the importance of time management and staying organised during stressful periods. That is why I’m eager to share my top organisational tips with you!
My lessons are structured typically as follows:
60 minute sessions with my 3 R's teaching techniques:
1. Recap- This includes a nut-shell overview of the content the student has covered & opportunities to resolve any misconceptions.
2. Recall- Asking tailored questions on the content for the student to actively recall.
3. Reverse Teaching- The student explains a concept to me in their own words.
My 3 R technique is the most effective approach to learning & teaching. Throughout my lessons I motivate, encourage and create a comfortable learning space for the student to continuously thrive in.
I have discovered that breaking down complex concepts into smaller, more digestible pieces is the key to effective learning. I’m excited to pass on all the skills and techniques I’ve honed throughout my academic career to help you succeed. So let’s embark on this learning journey together!

I have a long history of teaching. I started private tutoring GCSE level subjects (maths, physics, chemistry, biology) when I was 19 and continued to do so for A-level subjects (maths, physics, chemistry, English) throughout my engineering undergraduate study. After graduation when I joined a government organisation in Bangladesh as an engineer, I was in charge of the training programmes (automotive and machine tools) for the engineering apprentices. I moved to the UK in 2004 and relied on private tutoring of GCSE and A-level students (maths, physics, chemistry) to earn my living during my MSc study. Throughout my professional career in the industry as an engineer, I was engaged with designing and delivering training programmes for apprentices and engineers, covering a wide range of engineering subjects: engineering software (CAD, CAM, CAE), engineering maths, quality control, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and ERP (enterprise resource planning) software. During this period and further, I also did private tutoring of A level (maths, physics and chemistry) and undergraduate students (engineering maths, engineering mechanics, fundamental of mechanical engineering) as an extra source of income. During my PhD study (2016-2020), I worked as a teaching assistant and a demonstrator to teach engineering design and CAD to the undergraduate students of the University of Nottingham. I also led some workshops (manufacturing metrology, error analysis of a mechanical structure, etc). At Heriot-Watt University (2021-22), I worked as a Research Associate in Robotics. Besides my research work, I worked as a tutor and a guest lecturer for the following engineering undergraduate modules: Introduction to Robotics, Digital Design & Programming. I am now a lecturer in engineering at CU Coventry (Coventry University Group), and I teach a variety of electro-mechanical BEng modules (e.g. engineering maths, smart manufacturing, project management, engineering design, mechanical engineering systems and renewable energy). I also supervise and coordinate final-year research projects.
Based on the three sources of feedback I received about my teaching (student feedback, which is formally collected at the end of each module in each academic semester; colleagues' feedback and management-led teaching observation), I consider myself an excellent, student-centred tutor. I work hard to foster student learning - not only through teaching but also by supporting and mentoring them.

Experience and diligence are the key consistencies of a successful teacher, both of which I have taken the effort of acquiring over more than 20years of my high-yielding teaching career. I am an IB EXAMINER (BIOLOGY AND Chemisty) for the past 8 years and a CIE EXAMINER (BIOLOGY) for the last 3 years. My specialization lies in Biology, ESS and Chemistry from GCSE to A/IB levels however, my experience is synonymous across the educational board as I’ve also written Personal Statements and essay assignments for university students.
As previously mentioned, I have consistent experience in writing university and A level assignments for various subjects ie. Science and various social sciences. I find my teaching to transcend the synthetic geographical borders and time zones, having taught from Dubai and Malaysia, to the US, India as well as the UK. With my vast, and still every-growing, experience of teaching hundreds of students online and in person, I’ve sufficiently grasped the ability to get across challenging content and achieve measurable results.
I would be more than obliged to be contacted for any of your teaching/writing needs and further discuss availability.

I am fairly traditional in my approach. My previous pupils - I am recently retired - would describe me as thorough, encouraging and able to develop a strong self belief to succeed in a tricky subject.
Teaching Chemistry for 41 years has given me significant insight into the common conceptual pitfalls that hinder learning. So, first and foremost, I aim to develop a sound conceptual understanding and thereby foster tutees' confidence. Grasping Chemistry is like tackling a jig-saw puzzle: The pattern emerges when the links between the individual parts are apparent; I pride myself in enabling tutees to make these connections. Once the subject foundations are secure we move on to questions, examination technique and past papers.

Tuition is available for A Level Physics, GCSE Physics, GCSE Chemistry and GCSE Science. KS3 Science is also offered.
Tuition is given in 1 hour sessions
Tuitions sessions provided online through the Google Meet platform.
A typical session will involve a short review of previous work and a mix of explanation, verbal questions and exam-style questions to check understanding. Students will complete work during the session using Google Jamboard. This approach will be changed where the tutor judges this is necessary for the ideas being covered or to meet the needs of the Student.
Students may need to print questions so they will need access to a printer.
