I am a highly approachable Independent Expert Private English/English Literature Tutor located in Greater Manchester with over twenty-five years teaching and tutoring experience from Secondary to Postgraduate Degree level. I hold a First Class Honours’ degree in English/Russian Studies, MA Victorian Literature and a PhD English Literature as well as a PGCE, QTS and a DBS Enhanced Disclosure form.

I am an experienced English teacher who has worked in secondary schools for the over 20 years. I am also an AQA Lead Moderator and and Adviser to more than 150 schools for English Language A Level. I have Advanced Diplomas (post degree) in Language and Literacy and in Child Development. English Language is my passion though, of course, I have taught GCSE Literature as part of my professional role in school and I love teaching the texts associated with the requirements of the course. When I was 16, I attended the Southern Regional College for two years and completed my Level Three Extended Diploma in Early Childhood Studies. As part of my course, I had to do placement every Tuesday and Wednesday, and I worked as a teaching assistant in my old primary school. This experience made me realize that I wanted to become a class teacher and pursue this career further.
In Northern Ireland, I have tutored three children between the ages of 8 and 16. I have worked with children who struggle with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and other learning difficulties. I enjoy tutoring and getting the chance to support children individually.
Outside of school, I enjoy going to the gym and running. I also do Irish dancing, which I have been doing since the age of 6. It is something that I really enjoy and it has taught me the value of teamwork andriends. Additionally, it has taught me great resilience and the importance of persevering even when things get tough.
