Every student has different abilities and learns the best in different ways, so my tutoring structure will reflect that. I believe that to unlock a students potential, you must be flexible with the way you teach. I tailor my style to suit the students and parents needs and wishes and give the most effective tutoring possible. If a student or parent comes to me with known weak spots, I can plan lessons around that and introduce questions to test progress. However, if a weak spot is unknown as in a lot of cases, I can be there to support with weekly homework or even fish out those areas to improve on myself with quizzes.
I am big on students having confidence in their ability, so I will make sure they know how they are improving and what exactly they are achieving. I have experience working towards KS2 SATs , Cognitive Ability Maths Tests, GCSE and iGCSE, Entry Level Maths and Level 1-2 Numeracy ( usually completed at college). I have worked with children and adults with low confidence, a range of additional needs and mathematics anxiety. I am happy to tutor online or in person and am willing to provide shorter sessions for younger students (priced accordingly)
I look forward to helping you progress in you ability and confidence in mathematics.

I'm a first-year medical student at the University of Birmingham, and I'm excited to share my knowledge and passion for learning through tutoring. As a student currently immersed in the rigorous study of medicine, I understand the challenges that come with balancing complex subjects, managing time efficiently, and retaining large amounts of information. My experience navigating these challenges has equipped me with a deep understanding of effective study strategies, which I now aim to share with you.
I am passionate about breaking down complicated topics into digestible, easy-to-understand concepts, whether it's in science, medical-related subjects, or even study techniques. I’ve developed a strong foundation in subjects such as biology, chemistry, and anatomy, and I am well-versed in the academic demands of higher education. Through tutoring, I aim to not only help you succeed academically but also inspire confidence in your ability to grasp difficult concepts and think critically.

I have been tutoring since 2012 and have tutored over 1000 hours of maths, science, Law and English language. I have a PGCE and work as a full time maths and physics teacher in an OFSTED outstanding secondary school near Hereford. I have recently been turoing many A level maths and physics students as well as university level Law students.
Please see below the latest feedback I received from a lesson observation of an online 1:1 lesson.
Tom taught a lesson on quadratic sequences. He started by establishing the student’s confidence on the subject and then shared his screen to display a well prepared series of whiteboard slides. The student was asked to identify the relationship between a series of numbers leading to establishing the nth term. These initial sequences provided the base for the future slides, which contained further, more complex sequences for the student to solve. At each stage, Tom encouraged the student to break down the workings to ensure errors were avoided – he then annotated the whiteboard accordingly. Tom’s manner was easy going and relaxed. The student was actively involved throughout and, to quote Tom ‘did most of the work’ is a very positive way. This allowed for Tom to constantly assess and pitch to the level required. Tom was able to self assess well and commented that, if he were to the lesson again, he would have included more simple questions to start to build up confidence before going on to more complex sequences. Overall a really positive lesson, with a personable and approachable tutor.

I am a fully qualified secondary school teacher specialising in Science and Maths. I have extensive teaching and tutoring experience, in schools and online, in both mainstream teaching and special educational needs teaching. I have successfully taught and tutored pupils for 11 plus and 13 plus entrance exams, as well as for GCSE's in both Maths and Sciences, and for A level Biology and Chemistry.
I have always had alot of success tutoring science and maths online, with all pupils gaining the grades they wanted, and in most cases even higher grades.
I have also 12 years GCSE Science examiner marking experience, which allows me to explain to pupils what examiners are looking for within exam question answers.
I use a variety of course materials, workbooks and textbooks which are matched to the current relevant syllabus that the pupil is studying at their school. In addition I adapt my teaching methods to support the pupils learning needs and help to identify areas of study in which they need help to improve. I also look at revision methods and planning revision timetables with pupils to help them find the option which works best for their learning needs.

I believe in strong relationship building and a positive approach, whatever the real or less tangible hurdles that might be in the way.
Building confidence is a key aspect of my teaching pedagogy and I welcome students who might need some help with this.
